Can You Play Minecraft on Meta (Oculus) Quest or Quest 2?
There is an official version of Minecraft Bedrock edition for the Rift VR headset, but Minecraft isn't compatible with Quest or Quest 2. This platform lets you still play Minecraft, but only if your computer is VR-ready and you have a link cable. Your PC runs Minecraft and transmits the visual data directly to the headset. This allows you to play Minecraft in VR as long as your computer is connected.

The Bedrock Edition is easy to start running in VR. You'll need the Minecraft app, Oculus app, Oculus Rift Minecraft apps, and the link cable that connects your Oculus to your computer.
Here's how to play Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Quest:
Search for Minecraft and choose it from the results.
Click Free or to install
This isn't the full Minecraft application, it's an app that is free and allows Minecraft Bedrock Edition to run in VR using Meta/Oculus hardware.
Wear your headset and connect it to your computer using link cable.
Select Allow to enable Oculus link
Find Minecraft in your apps or search for it, then choose Start.

How to Play Minecraft Java Edition on Meta (Oculus) Quest or Quest 2
It is possible to play Minecraft Java Edition in VR via your Quest, but it is more difficult. Vivecraft is required to enable the Java version of Minecraft in VR. The VR implementation here is more robust than the Bedrock version, providing users with a variety of interactions and motion options to customize your experience.
To play Minecraft Java Edition on Quest you must install Java as well as install Steam, and install Steam VR. If you don't have all three installed, make sure you install them prior to starting.
Here's how you play Minecraft Java Edition on Quest:
Navigate to Vivecraft's download site and then click the most recent version of Vivecraft.
Click vivecraft-x.xx.x-jrbudda-x-x-installer.exe and download the file.
Launch the file when it is downloaded, then click Install.
The installation will fail if you haven't installed Java on your computer.
Click OK.
Launch the Oculus app on your computer.
Put on your Quest headset and connect it to your computer using the link cable.
Select Enable
On your computer, search for Steam VR within your Steam library and click Launch.
Select the monitor icon on the Steam VR interface.
If you have multiple monitors, choose the one Minecraft will run on.
If you select the wrong monitor, Minecraft will not appear on your virtual desktop after the next step. If that happens you could repeat the process to select the correct monitor, or take your headset off and transfer the Minecraft window to your other monitor.
